Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to form the Questers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
