Fans are eagerly awaiting for the horror series the Derry series, that's been receiving positive feedback and incorporating references from other Stephen King works. Now, the broadcaster announced that the second installment will premiere ahead of schedule, timed perfectly for the spookiest night.

Beginning on October 31 at 3 a.m. EST, episode two of the Derry prequel will premiere on HBO Max, before its traditional TV airing. The remaining installments of the eight-episode season will premiere on Sunday nights on the network and streaming service, culminating in the final episode on Sunday, December 14.

Storyline Summary

Set in the Derry mythology, It: Welcome to Derry draws from the original story while building upon the world established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the two It films. The first It movie focused on kids and teens battling supernatural evils, making it appropriate that the prequel continues that tradition. Nevertheless, the first installment of HBO’s Welcome to Derry shows it set out to increase the tension, delivering even more intense scares than Muschietti’s films and creating a dark atmosphere for the rest of the season.

Premise and Ideas

Set in 1962, the program features a fresh cast of parents and youngsters living in a seemingly idyllic town masking a sinister core. The town functions through a vicious, repeating pattern—characterized by violence, bigotry, and the supernatural, as a terrifying being returns once every three decades. While It: Welcome to Derry might seem like it leans too heavily to the films initially, what sets apart the digital program is its two-sided viewpoint—unfolding through the viewpoints of young and old simultaneously. The kids remain especially susceptible to It's terror, but the adults aren’t spared facing their personal demons born from local discrimination and lurking supernatural forces.
