Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," it added.

It said debris landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
