Fall Classic Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Viewers In the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended contest where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51 million watchers across the US, Canada, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball announced this marks the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 contest between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game averaged over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the previous finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game was seventh, Game 5 came in eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the game averaged over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest began at 9 p.m. local time, it averaged 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – recorded over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the total US average reached over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million watchers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings after 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 various languages.
